There is a yarn that is durable, washable, can give as well as it takes and is still wool!!

Introducing Schoeller & Stahl's Teflon coated wool. What do you want to bet that someone at DuPont plays with needles and string in their spare time???

I'm knitting up a hat and scarf set for my nephew Bubba (name changed to protect the innocent and to better match his personality). He's just started a project in Illinois and I predict this to be the ultimate test of durability and wear. Dave will be taking it over next week so I've got some buckling down to do.

And I'm not admitting to a birthday, but there was a great birthday present from my sister Louise, who lives in Maine.

Teflon-coated wool? Interesting. Could you give us a review when you finish knitting with it? It sounds like it might be a good thing for small children with a knack for spilling things on themselves.

Happy birthday! Your sister sent you a lovely gift. I'm with Erica, I've got to check that one out! BTW, where in Maine is your sister? I'm from Maine, too, and my family is all still there.

hehe not sure how I stumbled across your page but it's always nice to read someone in Germany (in English).

Yeah I was eyeing the teflon coated wool in my LYS and was a little skeptical about how they might feel while being knitted up.

I suppose wear-wise it would outdo regular yarn.

I"ll have to keep up with your blog to see what becomes of it! :D
